Don Hampton ran away with first place at Lake Welsh in February with four bass weighing 12.29 pounds.

The Texas Trails Bassmasters held our fourth tournament of the 2009 – 2010 season at Lake Welsh on February 6th.  Fourteen members fished this event.  Don Hampton was the class of the field at this tournament, bringing in four bass weighing 12.29 pounds.  Scott Fruge took second place with his 3.80 fish, which was also the big bass for the day.  Shane McCollum rounded out the top three with a bass weighing 3.52 pounds.  Dean Stroman brought in the only other keeper on a tough day.

Anglers are awarded points based on weight and finish position, starting with 100 for 1st place, 99 for second, etc.  Fifty points are awarded for anglers who enter a tournament but do not weigh a fish.  Penalties are assessed for dead fish and late weigh-in.
